Program Description
Depart from hotel in Salalah in a 4x4 vehicle and make your way to the Nejd area of Dhofar to see the rolling sand dunes. Here we find high sand dunes that rise to a height of 250 metres and above. The excursion includes a stop outside the "lost city" of Ubar, an ancient site, once an important centre of frankincense trade, discovered by archaeologists in 1992. Free time for optional visit (approx. 15-20 minutes). Jeep drive through the desert Rub Al. Khali, a huge sandy plain known from archaeological sites. On the way, the opportunity to see the former Bedouin settlement at Thumrait and Wadi Dawkah - an incense tree plantation. In the end, a sunset stop at the top of the dunes.
