Drive from hotels to Dambulla, where there are cave temples built on the orders of King Walagamba when he took the throne after a 14-year exile. Evening departure by jeep for a safari through Minneriya National Park, famous for its large elephant population. Then return to Dabulla and overnight at hotel (3*). Transfer to Sigiriya and climb the famous Sigiriya rock fortress. It contains the remains of foundations and fortifications as well as well-preserved paintings on the rock walls and is one of seven UNESCO-listed sites in Sri Lanka. Return to hotels.
