The Troodos Mountains are the largest and highest mountain range in Cyprus. Tradition and heritage still play a very important role here today. Located in the middle of the breathtaking landscape, small communities and villages have existed for centuries. Local festivals and events are often dedicated to the patron saint of the village, craftsmanship, product manufacturing or folk art. Our first stop takes us to the village of Pera, where we take a short walk before continuing to the UNESCO-protected village of Fikardou. The tour guide will serve us a small breakfast here, with typical delicacies to try. Of course, we will also explore this small village. Our next destination is a visit to the Machairas Monastery, founded at the end of the 12th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Please note the dress code. In addition, photography and filming is not permitted inside the monastery. The monastery has its own herb and fruit garden and offers various products in its own store. We continue our journey by minibus and arrive at an idyllic village, where a warm host and his family await us. They invite us to a tasty lunch consisting of various local Cypriot specialties, which we can share with each other. We enjoy the Cypriot hospitality and joie de vivre that will make this day an unforgettable experience. Finally, this beautiful excursion takes us to Lefkara, where you can stroll through the small alleyways and perhaps find a suitable souvenir, as Lefkara is famous for its silver and embroidery art.
