Program Description
If you are looking to escape the busy seaside resorts and discover the wild beauty of northern Albania, this excursion is the perfect choice. Spectacular mountain landscapes, a scenic boat transfer and time to relax in nature await you at Lumi i Shalës - one of the most picturesque places in the country.
In the morning, you will depart from Durres towards Koman Lake, considered one of the most impressive mountain regions in Albania. Once there, you will board a small motor boat that provides the transfer to Lumi i Shalës. Thanks to these smaller boats, you will pass through more hidden parts of the lake and admire the raw beauty of Albanian nature from up close.
During the journey, you will be surrounded by unforgettable views of the Accursed Mountains, steep cliffs and emerald-green waters creating one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Balkans. Interestingly, Koman Lake is an artificial reservoir created in the 1970s and 1980s as part of the Drin River hydroelectric project. Today, the area impresses visitors with its peaceful atmosphere and scenery often compared to Scandinavian fjords.
The highlight of the excursion will be time spent at Lumi i Shalës, famous for its crystal-clear waters and beautiful mountain surroundings. You will have free time to swim, relax and enjoy Albanian nature far away from crowded resorts. There will be an opportunity to purchase lunch and enjoy it surrounded by the stunning scenery of Albanian nature. Afterwards, you will return by boat to the harbour.
After the return cruise, you will travel back to Durres.
Please note that the order of visits and the program may be subject to change.

Reviews
Views like these stay with you forever! A wonderful cruise on the breathtaking lake, followed by time for the beach. It was undoubtedly the best time spent in nature.
We decided to take this tour on the recommendation of a resident at our hotel. The trip took place on September 10, 2026. The journey from the AMR Hotel in Durres took 3 hours (with two stops along the way). Then we had to pass through a tunnel (470 meters – the tunnel is so low that a bus can`t pass under it) to get to the barge departure point. The view was already stunning. The cruise lasted 1.5 hours – in our opinion, the highlight of the trip. At our destination, there were azure, refreshing waters, plenty of pubs, sun loungers (which you have to pay for), and there`s even a viewing terrace – for a fee, of course. Lunch at the restaurant was quite filling (soup + main course – we had pork and chicken, and we also had trout; everything was delicious; the meat/fish were grilled; the dinner cost us 3000 lek/2 people or 30 euros/2 people). After about two hours of free time, we returned by boat – again about 1:15 hours. The lake itself suffers from litter, mainly bottles, which accumulate in the bays and spoil the view/atmosphere (though from a distance they look like ducks ;) ). As for the pilot/guide (Ms. Anna), she was extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. On both the way to and from the lake, she provided engaging stories about the place, Albania, its cities, customs, and Albanian culture. We highly recommend this trip!
