Program Description

Discover the diverse landscapes of eastern Madeira, where mountain panoramas meet traditional villages and dramatic coastal views. The tour offers a perfect mix of nature, culture and unforgettable scenery.

You’ll begin with a visit to the Botanical Garden of the Blandy estate, a unique place filled with exotic plants from around the world. The garden is arranged in the style of a 19th-century English manor, creating a refined and tranquil atmosphere. Next, you’ll head towards Pico do Arieiro, the third highest peak on the island (1818 m). In good weather, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views over Madeira’s mountainous “crown” and its spectacular landscapes stretching into the distance. The route continues to Ribeiro Frio, where you’ll make a short stop surrounded by lush greenery and fresh mountain air. Afterwards, you’ll visit the charming village of Santana, famous for its traditional houses with distinctive thatched roofs – one of Madeira’s most iconic sights. You’ll then pass through the picturesque village of Porto da Cruz, known for its relaxed atmosphere and scenic coastal setting. At the end of the tour, you’ll explore the striking St. Lawrence Peninsula (Ponta de São Lourenço), where rugged cliffs and panoramic viewpoints reveal views of Eagle Rock, as well as the islands of Porto Santo and Desertas. You’ll also see the impressive airport runway, uniquely supported on 180 columns.

The order of the itinerary and programme may be subject to change.

The tour can also be organised in a small group (up to 8 people) upon request, offering a more intimate experience.

An organizational disaster. Right from the start, the bus driver who was supposed to take us from Machico to Funchal and the rest of the trip was late, so we missed the botanical garden. We ...
