Program Description
Montserrat is one of the most extraordinary places in Catalonia - dramatic rock formations, a unique spiritual atmosphere and views that stay with you long after your visit. This tour combines history, nature and local winemaking traditions, allowing you to discover different sides of Catalan culture in a single day.
Your journey begins at the Benedictine monastery of Montserrat, built on a narrow rocky ledge high above the valley. It is here that the famous statue of the Black Madonna is kept, venerated by pilgrims for centuries. As you step inside the basilica, you will feel the remarkable atmosphere of this sanctuary and learn why Montserrat has become one of the most important spiritual symbols of Catalonia. The surrounding jagged peaks create an almost otherworldly landscape - a paradise for lovers of mountain scenery and panoramic views.
The next stop takes you to the Penedès region, regarded as the heart of Catalan winemaking. It was here, in the 19th century, that the first bottle of CAVA was produced - a sparkling wine often referred to as “Catalan champagne”. You will visit one of the most renowned cava producers in the region, where you will discover the secrets behind its production - from carefully cultivated vines to the traditional bottle fermentation method. During a guided tour through the historic underground cellars, you will gain insight into the production process and understand what makes CAVA so highly appreciated around the world. The experience concludes with a tasting of this iconic sparkling wine.
This is a day of contrasts - from the tranquillity of monastery walls and majestic mountain landscapes to the aromas and flavours of a region shaped by centuries of tradition.

Reviews
The trip was amazing, very satisfied. It`s a shame that there is no SK/CZ guide on offer.
The trip to Montserrat and the winery, where wine and cava are produced, was well-organized. Ms. Halina has extensive knowledge not only about the monastery and wine production but also interesting facts about the royal family. The first tour included a tour of the cellars, where they talked about wine production in the past and present. The visit concluded with a wine tasting and the opportunity to make some purchases at the local shop. The surprise underground transport was fantastic! 😁 Then we took a coach to the Benedictine monastery. There, of course, we had a tour and another tasting—this time of liqueurs. During our free time of about 1.5 hours, we could grab a bite to eat, shop, or take the cable car to the top. 😍 I give the trip a 6. I recommend it!
