Program Description

A market with railway tracks running through it, colourful boats filled with local products and an unforgettable encounter with elephants - this trip offers a chance to experience different sides of Thailand in just one day. From the famous markets near Bangkok to close encounters with elephants and the historic bridge over the River Kwai, every stop brings something exciting!

You'll set off early in the morning for Samut Songkhram, home to the remarkable Talad Rom Hup Railway Market, also known as Maeklong Railway Market. What makes this place so unusual is that an active railway line runs right through the middle of the market! As a train approaches, vendors quickly fold away their awnings and move their goods to make way for it. Moments after the train has passed, the market returns to its usual rhythm. It's a spectacle unlike anything you'll see at an ordinary market!

Next, you'll visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of Thailand's most distinctive traditional markets. Instead of conventional market stalls, you'll find boats loaded with tropical fruits, vegetables and handicrafts. Vendors sell their products directly from their boats, while some even prepare local dishes on board. It's a fantastic opportunity to experience Thailand's trading traditions and sample regional delicacies.

The next part of your journey takes you to Kanchanaburi province, where you'll visit an elephant sanctuary. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll get to know these magnificent animals and learn more about their behaviour and daily habits. You'll have the opportunity to feed the elephants and help prepare their food, for example by making balls from cooked vegetables and rice or collecting banana leaves.

There's more to come! You'll also take part in a mud bath with the elephants, followed by a chance to gently scrub their skin using special brushes. One of the most memorable moments will be bathing with the elephants in the River Kwai. It's a wonderful opportunity to interact with these animals up close and learn about their natural behaviour.

To round off the trip, you'll head to Kanchanaburi town to see the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. One of the best-known historical landmarks associated with the Second World War, the bridge was part of the former Burma Railway. You'll have some free time to take photos and browse the nearby local market for souvenirs.

At approximately 17:00, you'll begin your return journey to Hua Hin.

This trip is a perfect choice for anyone looking to experience the spirit of Thailand without the rush and crowds. It started with a real "wow" factor at Talad Rom Hup. This market on the tracks is the most surreal place we`ve ever seen. Watching the traders fold their canopies and clear their goods in the blink of an eye before an oncoming train, only to return to selling a second later, is simply indescribable. It`s an incredible display of local discipline and the rhythm of life. The next stop, the floating market, is the perfect moment to sample local delicacies amidst the beautiful scenery of the canals. However, it was the elephant sanctuary that was the heart of the entire trip. The most impressive aspect is the ethical approach – here, we are guests in the elephants` world, not the other way around. Feeding the elephants, walking together to the mud spa, and watching them enjoy their baths is an experience that will remain with us forever. It`s clear that the animals are happy and cared for, which provides immense psychological comfort. To conclude the day, we visited the legendary Bridge over the River Kwai. It`s a place steeped in history and truly impressive to behold. Everything was perfectly organized: comfortable transportation, a wonderful guide with extensive local knowledge, and a delicious local lunch. This excursion is a must-do during your stay in Hua Hin!

A very interesting trip, not tiring. Very varied, with perfectly timed train departures, both at the railway market and at the bridge over the River Kwai. Although in the latter case, you supposedly have to be lucky to get a train on schedule. We were lucky. Encountering elephants is a fantastic experience that will remain in your memory for a lifetime. All the sightseeing spots are incredibly attractive. Patrycja, our guide, was wonderful.
